Sole Proprietorships

Beginning a business can be difficult and most are not sure what to do to start. We are here to help you ask those questions and point you in the right direction. Sole Proprietorships can become messy in a hurry. The beginning can seem easy and begin with a few transactions a week. However with Odessa's economy those few transactions can quickly become hundreds, and keeping track of all those transactions on top of doing monthly bank reconciliations and paying your taxes can become quite a handful.

To begin you will need to ask yourself a few questions. Will I need to collect sales tax? The Texas comptroller can help you find out whether your business will need to collect sales tax. Do I want to become an LLC? This will depend on a variety of factors: Size, Services, and Liability as well as a few other factors. Do I need monthly, quarterly, or yearly bookkeeping? Will I be paying employees or contract laborers? Do I need to pay estimated tax payments?

This may sound complicated, but once you setup your business the upkeep is much simpler. Once you have a few months under your belt everything will start to make sense and we will work with you to make everything more understandable and easier.
